A main gallery exhibit showcasing original works contributed to the 37th annual Beverly Arts Center auction is the centerpiece of the Artists' Preview Party.
Among the artists who have contributed works to the BAC Auction are award-winning children's book illustrator John Sandford of Grand Haven, Mich., noted photographer Paul Kozal of Sea Ranch, Calif., internationally recognized photographer Mati Maldre of Chicago, and landscape artist Brian Ritchard of Chicago.
"Shedding Cancer" reception

An artist reception for "Shedding Cancer," an exhibit of contemporary abstract finger paintings by Linda Nicola. The exhibit, which runs through Feb. 3, is intended to inspire and encourage viewers who are struggling with cancer and other illnesses, coincides with the release of Nicola's book that shares the same title.

Crowe leads "Devil" tour

Ridge Historical Society and Chicago ghost hunter Richard Crowe will conduct a "Devil in the White City" bus tour.
The "Devil in the White City" refers to Dr. Harry Howard Holmes and his notoriety as a serial killer (he's been said to have killed dozens of people in his hotel at 63rd and Wallace) during the Chicago World's Fair of 1893.
The tour will visit the sites associated with both Holmes and the event itself.
Tickets cost $50 for RHS members and $60 for non-members. Reservations are required.

A reception for John Arndt: Recent Work will celebrate the opening of the exhibit, scheduled to run through Sept. 8 in the East Gallery. Admission is free.

The latest gallery opening - this one for Jordan Scott (2-D mixed media using non-traditional materials) and Pier Wright (2-D mixed media abstract resin paintings) - will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. June 2.
The exhibit is scheduled to run through July 1. Admission is free.
Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mon.
