Saint Xavier University President Judith A. Dwyer, Ph.D., announced today the appointment of Calvin J. Williams as vice president for information resources and technologies beginning Aug. 1.

In this new cabinet position, Williams will coordinate and integrate all University information technology matters, recommending information systems policy at the highest level. He will also have responsibilities for oversight of the library, instructional technology, media services, and information services.

"Mr. Williams' advanced background in information systems at multiple institutions will provide leadership, integrative management and direction of the University's shared information systems as we move toward our goal of being recognized as a comprehensive Catholic university," President Dwyer said.

Selected from applicants in a national search, Williams brings to the University approximately 20 years of experience in developing initiatives that establish information technology as pivotal for scholarship, teaching and learning, and higher education accessibility. Most recently, Mr. Williams was associate vice president for instructional technology services at Monmouth University in New Jersey.

Prior to joining Monmouth University in December 2004, he was the Director of the Teaching, Learning and Technology Center at Seton Hall University, responsible for management of instructional design staff who assisted faculty with teaching and learning initiatives and incorporation of technology.

"I am excited about coming to Saint Xavier to take the position of vice president for information resources and technologies," Williams said. "It is a privilege and an honor to be recognized by the search committee, and I look forward to sharing a central role in the integration of information technologies."

Williams received his B.A. in communications from Rutgers College and his M.L.S. from the School of Communications, Information and Library Studies at Rutgers University.
