The WXAV crew at the Toyota Field press box.
WXAV 88.3 FM Chicago, the student radio station of Saint Xavier University is the home of the official radio show of the Chicago Fire. The show, entitled "Chicago Fire Soccer Weekly" airs every Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The show is co-hosted by WXAV Program Director Angelo Bonadonna, Promotions Director Kevin Kellam, and Sports Director Terry Bonadonna. It has been on the air for almost two months.
In addition to airing the show from the WXAV studio on the campus of Saint Xavier University, the crew has also aired a pre-game show for the Fire on Friday, June 22 before their exhibition game against Cracovia, Poland. Bonadonna and Kellam also did a mock broadcast for that game in hopes that WXAV will obtain the english rights to air all home Fire broadcasts.
Every week the show goes in depth on key Fire issues and also has a 5-10 minute conversation with a player on the team. Players that have appeared on Chicago Fire Weekly include Bakary Soumare, Chris Armas, Brian Plotkin, Jerson Montiero, and Calen Carr. Former head coach Dave Sarachan has also appeared on the show.
The hosts of the half hour show encourage call-ins from Fire fans as well. To get a comment aired on WXAV, call the studio line at 773-429-0063 during the show or instant message the crew on AIM at WXAVstudio.
