Cubs event for Dart
Supporters of Chicago mayoral front-runner will host a night of baseball at the Ivy League Baseball Club,
3637 N. Sheffield Ave., to see the San Francisco Giants play the Cubs on Sept. 23.
Doors open at 4:45 p.m. and the game starts at 6:05 p.m. Tickets are: Single: $150, Grand Slam: $1,000.
Dart is the front-runner in the city's first open-seat mayoral election in more than 60 years.
In a recent poll reported by the Sun-Times, Dart had 12% of the voters' support, and James Meeks had 10%.
As for the rest of the pack, U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez had 9%; U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. had 8%, and White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel had 7%.
"I sure hope anybody looking at it would be looking at it with their eyes wide open, with the notion that, 'I'm not doing this for ego, I'm not doing this for a new title. I'm walking into what could be a train wreck. I'm walking into something that could be tremendous deficits that are facing everybody in the country,'" Dart told the Sun-Times last week.
