Mt. Greenwood playlot plans to be unveiled
The Chicago Park District will host a meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Mt. Greenwood Park fieldhouse to reveal two different concepts and layouts for the proposed playlot. The Mt. Greenwood Park Advisory Council will hand out shirts and bracelets to all who attend (while supplies last).
It will be the only chance for neighbors to vote for one of the two designs. Chris Gent, the Chicago Park District's deputy director of planning and development, will host the meeting and be available for questions.
Neighbors interested in getting more information about the project - including seeing the designs and asking questions about the cost or build schedule - are invited to attend.
Equipment at the playylot is nearly 20 years old and failed two safety inspections in 2005. Since the inspections, several of the structures have been removed from the park.
The Goals of the Playlot Initiative are to construct a soft surface throughout the playlot, which may include a play area for 2-5-year-olds as well as a play area for 6-12-year-olds. The playlot also is expected to be compliant with the Americans With Disabilities Act.
