Speeding, ignoring stop signs concern Beverly residents

» Read similar stories filed under:

Speeding and ignoring stop signs have been a concern for residents in the area around Ridge Park, and Chicago police addressed those concerns during the monthly CAPS meeting for Beat 2213 June 14 at Ridge Park.

A representative from the Beverly Area Planning Association told the group that an ordinance adopted in February imposes a $100 fine and a mandatory court appearance for anyone who issued a ticket for speeding or blowing a stop sign.

Another meeting attendee requested specific attention for the stop signs at 96th Street and Damen Avenue, 96th Street and Longwood Avenue, and 97th Street and Damen Avenue.

Those incidents usually occur after 8 p.m., according to the attendee and have nearly caused collisions with pedestrians. An attendee who lives on the east side of the Beat requested attention for the stop signs on Wood Avenue from 103rd Street to 99th Street.

There is a stop sign at 11400 S. Fairfield that 70% of the people don't even think of stopping. It is disturbing.
