The '80s return to the BAC
Location: Beverly Arts Center, 2407 W. 111th St.
One of the most successful bands on the new wave music scene of the 1980s, The Motels were formed by singer/songwriter Martha Davis in 1978 and signed with Columbia Records a year later.
"Careful" went to the Top 50 in 1981, followed in 1982 by the Top 10 hit "Only the Lonely". The band continued to release several hits such as "Suddenly Last Summer" and "Remember the Night."
In 1988 Davis took a sabbatical from performing to concentrate on writing music. Davis only recently arrived back on the music scene with edge and energy, a song list of new originals and hits, and a newly formed band.
Tickets cost $25 in advance ($30 for first 4 rows), or $30 at the door.
