So I asked a close friend of mine who’s a liberal Democrat about why he supported - and continues to support - Obama.
When confronted with the prospect of a highly inexperienced but hopeful candidate with a highly experienced centrist (John McCain), he said he’d prefer to take a gamble on change ... to afford Obama the luxury of learning while on the job.
Obama, argued my friend, injected hope into the populace, so the populace better pressure him to follow through on his promises.
Unfortunately, many in that populace recognize the challenges we have ahead. So far he has proven his critics wrong and has shown that he is capable of instituting a centrist, deliberate administration by his appointments. Wait a minute ... that hasn't happened yet, has it?
