Move it or lose it
The longstanding Chicago tradition of saving parking spaces shoveled out by nearby residents is getting the boot. The city is telling residents to remove their parking space savers - which range from children's play sets to simple old lawn chairs - at least until the next measurable snow fall.
City crews will remove items not removed by residents. The Department of Streets and Sanitation typically has tolerated this "unique" Chicago tradition, but this year the department finally has said enough is enough: When there's no snow, move it or lose it.
What do you think? Is it acceptable to save the parking space that you've carved out for your vehicle, or are you more of a purist, reasoning that since the practice is technically illegal, no one should do it - ever?
