Anyone missing a dozen parakeets?

» Read similar stories filed under:

Seriously. We heard some rumors Saturday afternoon that about a dozen parakeets - most bigger than a squirrel - were in the area of Mount Greenwood Cemetery.

Sure enough, when we headed over there, we found that they had made their way out of the graveyard and into the trees at nearby Annie Keller school. Within half an hour, though, they had headed south toward 111th Street.

Anyone else give witness to the peculiar siting Saturday?

Tell Us About Your Neighbors

We all know someone who’s worth the recognition, that neighbor or friend or family member who has an interesting story to tell … but one that not enough people know about. There’s enough bad news today that a little good news about our own neighbors could be just the right thing to keep us focused on what really matters: our community. So why not spread the word? Let us know in 200 words or less why you think someone deserves a little extra recognition. You’ll automatically receive 10 points (50 if we feature that person). Send a Neighbor Name to us.
