I subscribe to the Beverly review. Today there was a listing for Mt. Greenwood residents who may be interested in sitting in on the board meeting to discuss 111th street development issues.

Taken from the Beverly review:
The Mount Greenwood residents association is looking for a few good men and women to sit on an Ad-Hoc committee regarding the Mt. Greenwood business district to discuss solutions and new ideas for improvments of the downtown business area. People can become a member of the Association for $15.00 a year and receive a monthly newsletter and a free six month subscription to the Mt. Greenwood Express. For more information, please call 773-445-0011.

That is all the article said. No names or times of meetings were given.
I think its a good idea to get more neighbors involved. I would love to see more small businesses in "Downtown" then another Walgreens, CVS, or Starbucks. I am also thinking of opening a Gourmet treat shoppe on Kedzie or 111th street. Hope this information helps!

That is the Residents Assoc number. Good group. It is attached to the Mt Greenwood Redevelopemnt Assoc? Will the public's comments/input fall on deaf ears? To answer the other question. Some years ago(about 8 or 9) it was announced that we were getting a new Walgreen's and corner strip mall at 111th Kedzie. A starbuck's too! Still waiting. I think the community just wants to see more stores/good restaurants in their own area.

What is all this about, anyway? Is development falling off in Mt. Greenwood? Are new businesses coming into town, or are they leaving?

Hi, I don't know about the Walgreens corner, but I do know that there will be a new Chiropractors office opening where the laundrymat used to be across the street from St. Christina. I will be opening a bakery/deli next store to the office, where the pizza place used to be!! Now that's progress!!
