Anyone know this man?

The other day I came across the name of a possible former resident of the Southwest Side, and I'm not sure if there's a story in it or not, but I figured I'd check it out anyway.

A witness told police that he knew one of the victims --identified as 30-year-old Rodney Pepper--who was shot and killed Sunday morning in a triple-murder in Danville. The witness mentioned that he knew Pepper from a local high school, although Pepper recently had been living in Danville.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for the Illinois Department of Corrections confirmed that Pepper was convicted in 1993 of murder and armed robbery in Chicago. He was paroled in 2003, but he violated his parole a year later when he was convicted of possession of a firearm.

Sunday's deaths are being investigated, although no arrests have been made, and Danville police won't say whether they have identified suspects. There may be nothing more to the story, but I thought I'd ask area residents if they know anything more about this.

We all know someone who’s worth the recognition, that neighbor or friend or family member who has an interesting story to tell … but one that not enough people know about. There’s enough bad news today that a little good news about our own neighbors could be just the right thing to keep us focused on what really matters: our community. So why not spread the word? Let us know in 200 words or less why you think someone deserves a little extra recognition. You’ll automatically receive 10 points (50 if we feature that person). Send a Neighbor Name to us.
